MediTelegraph interview with Stefano Messina (Assarmatori President): “Naples and Salerno need great infrastructures”.

“In Naples and Salerno there is a slight recovery – says Stefano Messina, president of Assarmatori – but it is still very far from pre-pandemic levels. In the first half of 2021, according to the data provided by l’Auorità di Sitema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Centrale (the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority), In Naples, Salerno and Castellammare di Stabia ports 16.5 million tons of goods were handled, almost 12.6% more than what was moved in the same period of last year. Passengers’ traffic likewise recovered slightly in the first half of the year; the total number of passengers embarked and disembarked in these ports was about 1 million and 325 thousand units – last year they had just exceeded a million. Afterwards, it is well known that in July there was good traffic which increased again in August and then returned to decline in September, at the same levels as in 2019”.
